JUNE TUNES

It's been a fabulous month for new releases and some of the best we've seen from the likes of Savages, Noah And The Whale and Trophy Wife. Now, June is upon us and we're looking at even more awesome new records. Here are a few of the ones you should be keeping an eye out for...

MILES KANE - DON'T FORGET WHO YOU ARE
Mr Kane is back with his sophomore album, and it definitely looks set to be a good'un. The singles from his debut Colour Of The Trap were great but the singles from this album ("Give Up" and "Don't Forget Who You Are") sound even better! Miles is playing almost every festival imaginable this summer and so, this album will really set him up well for those dates. I look forward to hearing it on the 3rd of June and seeing him in the summer.

QOTSA - ...LIKE CLOCKWORK
Well, well, well... Queens of the Stone Age are finally back with what may well be a contender for album of the year. The album has been available to stream in full at itunes.com/QOTSA for about a week now so I can already happily tell you that you need to get this album it is ferociously good! So many great lyrical performances by Homme and of course the music is beyond reproach with guest appearances from the likes of Dave Grohl, Alex Turner, Trent Reznor and Elton John. On the 3rd of June, keep your eyes peeled...

DISCLOSURE - SETTLE
The time has come! Finally we get a debut album from Disclosure, after hearing all of their tracks in clubs, adverts, programmes, etc... for the past few months. The album will feature their already well-known singles "Latch", "White Noise", "You & Me" and their new track "When A Fire Starts To Burn". This will definitely be one to keep an eye out for. It hits the shelves on the 3rd of June and they're throwing an album launch party at the Boiler Room, which over 18's can win tickets to here.

JAGWAR MA - HOWLIN'
Another debut album hitting our airwaves this month. Jagwar Ma are another fantastic new group that are on almost every single festival line up this summer. These boys are doing really well and this record is going to be pretty darn awesome. Featuring the singles "Man I Need", "The Throw", "Come And Save Me" and more, this album is going to provide many anthems to my summer. So that you're ready for summer, pick up a copy on the 10th of June, you won't be disappointed.

BEADY EYE - BE
Well, Liam Gallagher being the cocky guy that he is, probably already thinks this is album of the year. As much as his horrible persona makes me want to prove him wrong, their latest single "Second Bite Of The Apple" is actually pretty good. I don't think it'd make album of the year but it'll be something cool to listen to before getting into the summer mood. The album comes out on the 10th of June.

BLACK SABBATH - 13
No more than three days ago, I was just discussing with a friend of mine when exactly Black Sabbath were going to be releasing something new. I went online to check it out and found out that it was much sooner than we'd thought. The new album comes out on the 10th of June and knowing the band, it'll be manic. Definitely looking forward to this one and who knows, maybe Ozzy will play the iTunes Festival again this year?!

JIMMY EAT WORLD - DAMAGE
Jimmy Eat World are back with their eighth studio album and it looks set to be pretty good. Any artist/band that can put out eight albums in 20 years and still have them sounding good deserves some admiration. The record comes out on the 11th of June and I would definitely recommend getting a hold of it or at least have a listen to it on Spotify.

KELLY ROWLAND - TALK A GOOD GAME
There has been quite a lot of noise and madness surrounding Kelly Rowland and the album, 90% of it has been negative. There was supposed to have been "a fight" between her and Beyonce for some reason and all in all things just haven't been great for the promo for this album. If I'm honest, her last album Here I Am was seriously terrible and I don't really think this will be much better. I suppose I'll have to just listen and see on the 17th of June.

KODALINE - IN A PERFECT WORLD
More debut goodness in the form of Kodaline. Kodaline have been a little downplayed of late but if it's anything like their EPs - Kodaline and High Hopes - then this will be a great record. The album will be available on the 17th of June but until then, here are a couple of singles from it - "High Hopes" and "Love Like This".

KANYE WEST - YEEZUS
This album has raised more than a few eyebrows - the title alone is questionable. No-one is really sure what this album will sound like. The single "New Slaves" has been confirmed for it and that's pretty much all that anyone seems to be certain about. It'll be interesting to see what this album is like when it drops on the 18th of June. Nothing Kanye has done has really really impressed me since 808s & Heartbreak (except of course Watch The Throne) so maybe Yeezus will do the job, or maybe not.

There are actually quite a few more albums out this month that I couldn't write about so I thought I'd mention them here: Boards Of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest, Megadeth - Super Collider, Gold Panda - Half Of Where You Live, Falling In Reverse - Fashionably Late, Empire Of The Sun - Ice On The Dune, J. Cole - Born Sinner, Zomby - With Love, Tom Odell - Long Way Down, Austra - Olympia, John Legend - Love In The Future, Lemuria - The Distance Is So Big, Deap Vally - Sistrionix, August Burns Red - Rescue And Restore, Sigur Rós - Kveikur and The Story So Far - 7" Split. Keep an ear out, June is going to be a big month...
