Another day to celebrate women worldwide and I thought that I'd use it to acknowledge some of the most talented females in music at the moment and some women that we should really be keeping an eye out for this year.
1. SHAKIRA
Shakira is killing it at the moment! With brains, beauty, booty and a voice - more than a triple threat - how can you not be enchanted by her?! After all, her hips don't lie...
2. SAVAGES
I couldn't even just talk about Savages' front woman Jehnny Beth because every single lady in this band is completely awesome in their own way. Beauty and badassery in one band. Yes please...
3. MØ
Danish songbird MØ has blown up in record time to become what is seeming like this year's Lana Del Rey with a slightly more dancey vibe. I am LOVING her stuff right now. One to watch.
4. WARPAINT
Another fantastic girl band who have a lot of big things ahead of them this year in particular. Warpaint have booked a huge amount of festivals, gigs and all on the back of a killer second album. Lovely ladies...
5. BEYONCÉ
Beyoncé has been queen of the scene for a while. As with any big name, everyone has an opinion, accurate or not, but there's no denying her talent. She has slayed everything this year and she'll be slaying for years to come.
6. TAY JARDINE
Representing the pop punk scene from the forefront right now is Tay Jardine from We Are The In Crowd. With their new record Weird Kids she's on pretty much every magazine cover and the band is booking more gigs and tours than ever...
7. KATY B
For somebody that's been so quiet on the music scene the past couple of years she's trying for a huge comeback this year. New albums, new tours, a new image - everything's fresh. Let's just hope that this new Katy B puts out bangers like the old one did and sticks around for longer...
8. HAIM
If I'm honest I'd thought that Haim's hype would've worn out by this year but they're still a hot topic - touring worldwide, promoting their record Don't Save Me and releasing brilliant music videos like this one...
9. LORDE
I still haven't hopped on the Lorde band wagon and I would definitely not consider myself a fan but it seems like a huge craze is brewing and it's very much early days for her. I don't yet see what the madness is about but maybe I'll figure it out this year?
10. JANELLE MONAE
And last but certainly not least The Electric Lady herself - leading the way recently not only in women's rights but for everyone who associates with a marginalised group within society. Pure in mind and in music - keeping it funky and keeping it real...
