VIDEO PREMIERES

TWO new videos have hit the interwebs today. One of them I am ecstatic about, the other, well - you'll see. So I think today, we'll have our dessert first. Here's Foals' new video for "Bad Habit".

Bravo Nabil, Bravo! This guy should definitely just produce all of Foals' video from now on. Now this video is no "Late Night" (one of my videos of the year). However, it is extremely well done. The choice of scenery - shooting in the desert is perfect for the vibe of the song in my opinion. Nabil and Yannis as collaborators are obviously big fans of symbolism - this video hits hard without actually having much happening at all. Essentially all that happens (SPOILER ALERT) is Yannis chases a naked girl through the desert and when he eventually gets to her, she turns to dust. But you can tell just from first watch that there is so much more to this video and to the concept. Again, kudos.

Now for Chris Brown's adventurous new video featuring the late Aaliyah. Confused yet? Just watch the video...

This video has confused a lot of people, and rightfully so. Many people are questioning the use of Aaliyah's guest vocals on the track and wondering what the actual message of the video/song is. I think that mainly, Chris wanted to address gun crime in America, but not much in the video pays attention to this message. I don't know, if you read into it this video is pretty incoherent. However, if you take it at face value and just listen to the music and not necessarily the lyrics, it's not a bad song. And of course, Aaliyah sounds fantastic. Oh well, in my opinion, nice try Chris but it's probably best you stick to things like "Fine China" for now.
