BA-HUMBUG

Well, 4 years ago today the lads from Sheffield - Arctic Monkeys gave us the record "Humbug". And so in honour of this fabulous album I thought I'd go through a few of my favourite songs from it. So without further ado.....

CRYING LIGHTNING
The bassline for this track is super funky and Alex's vocals are equally funky/sensual. Iconic tune - I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of tracks on their new record sounded a little similar to this. Gold.

MY PROPELLER
Great intro for the record - really sets the tone. Also, just one of those songs that you'd have playing when you're driving in your car late at night on the motorway somewhere. This album is probably Arctic's most mellow of the four and this track could honestly have been the opener or the closer.

PRETTY VISITORS
So what did come first then? The chicken or the dickhead? Probably one of Arctic's most well known lyrics from what is actually probably one of their least well known albums. That's how much of a stand-out track this is!

DANCE LITTLE LIAR
The drums on this are actually really great - subtle but great. Love this song all together and love the breakdown at the bridge. Alex's vocals are just so on point throughout this song/record.

Although this isn't my favourite album of theirs, I did really enjoy this record. It's full of a lot of songs that sound like they could be album-closers but they make it work and this just makes me all the more excited for AM to be released on the 9th of September. We've been listening to Humbug for FOUR YEARS now, and I'm looking forward to many more years.
