FREE MUSIC FRIDAY

Free Music Friday? Three of my favourite words. Who doesn't love free stuff, music and fridays?! Now you can have them all in one! Whenever I see a link for a free music download, I always get it - even if I think I may not like it, or if I don't necessarily like the band's name or something. So now it's your turn...

There have been quite a few links for free downloads over the past week  and so here's a little bit about them all...



ECHOSMITH - Last week I called for a new pop rock/punk band with a female lead to listen to - well these guys answered. Click here for the free download. Now, I've listened through the tracks; they're not terrible but they're definitely not amazing. I don't know it just sounds like Taylor Swift decided to try out Pop Rock one day, they'd probably do well in the mainstream. That's just my opinion though, have a listen and decide for yourself.

BAYY - Saw these guys on Twitter, and later found out that they were one of the bands that supported Trophy Wife at their last London gig last Thursday. So, I decided to check them out. They have 3 free songs for download on their soundcloud here. The three songs I heard were pretty sweet - kind of shoegaze-y. 






THE & - I spoke about this band last week here and mentioned that they had a free download of their EP (which you can get here). Now that I've listened to it, I reaaallly don't like it. I thought I could like it a little bit at times. It had its moments (of which there were few), but all in all I just wasn't feeling it. But it may be someone else's cup of tea.









KINS - Probably my favourite free download of the entire week. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting but whatever that was, this surpassed it. Quite an Alt-J kind of sound but less polished and a little more Everything Everything-ish at times. If you only download one of these, I recommend this. Free download: here.







FLY THIS FOR ME - I actually had their soundcloud favourited a long while ago but I only claimed the free download this week. Solid song. British rock music - kinda of Young Guns/Mallory Knox-y. Get the download here.






TINY MOVING PARTS - Probably the most confusing download of the week. I read their band name and thought "ok, must likely pop/pop rock". Then I heard the first 5 seconds and thought "this sounds a little TDCC" then at the 10 second mark I was like "wait no, not sure what this sounds like actually" then the guy started 'singing' and I was like "wait, this is a little mewithoutYou/La Dispute-ish right now". All in all, final verdict - I quite like it. Download it free here.





CONTROL - I saw a link for this on Twitter (yes I spend a lot of time on Twitter) and downloaded it. After listening to it I have to say it's pretty average to be honest. I like the instrumental, not so much the vocals. But maybe they're just an acquired taste. Have your say here.
