My sources tell me that today is officially "World Beard Day" and so I thought it fitting to run through a list of some of my favourite songs featuring bearded beauties...
BIFFY CLYRO (SIMON NEIL)
This is generally just a band full of beards, but Simon's beard may just take the cake. These guys have certainly blown up a considerable amount recently following their double-disc release and their Reading/Leeds headline set. Find out why here...
OUTKAST (ANDRE 3000)
A man that takes particular pride in his beard and has actually gone on to do commercials for men's razors. Andre does always keep his beard looking sharp and well kept (even if it isn't the most extravagant beard of the bunch)...
RADIOHEAD/ATOMS FOR PEACE (THOM YORKE)
A jack of all trades. Not my favourite beard but perhaps one of my favourite artists. I love the work he's produced in both Radiohead and Atoms For Peace. Had to go with the classic and choose a Radiohead tune, but AFP will make it on here sooon...
NAS AND DAMIAN MARLEY (DAMIAN MARLEY)
Perhaps the biggest beard appearing on this list - he comes from a family full of beards. I love that he teamed up with Nas to make this "Distant Relatives" record - this definitely deserved more hype...
The man who discovered his beard destiny - thank God that Yannis got a beard. One of the loveliest beards on the music scene today ladies and gents. And yet another fast-to-fame band, Foals are getting bigger and bigger by the second, and so they should be...
SYSTEM OF A DOWN (SERJ TANKIAN)
Perhaps the fanciest beard on the list - if I'm honest this whole band is filled with fancy-bearded men. It's nice to have a metal band filled with classy men haha. Aside from their beards, they are some of the most talented musicians around today, individually and collectively...
FOO FIGHTERS (DAVE GROHL)
What a man. It's about the man behind the beard in all fairness. Dave Grohl is a testament to rock and roll. One of my greatest inspirations, frontman to one of my favourite bands and generally one of the best drummers of all time. What can't this guy do?
I'm sure that there are plenty of fabulous beards that I've missed off of the list but those were just a few of my favourites. Have a happy World Beard Day!
